When it came to selecting the perfect home for the McKee & Co showroom, Brent imagined something just like Corona Del Mar Plaza, but he wasn’t sure if the design firm would be able to lease space there. Luckily for everyone, it was a perfect fit.

McKee & Company has a well-deserved reputation as one of Newport Beach’s premier interior design firms, renowned for deftly mixing California casual with Old World sensibilities. Their Sparrow & Sage collection is the go-to for high-quality furniture and accessories with exceptional craftsmanship. So it comes as no surprise that the firm’s founders, husband-and-wife duo Brent and Tracey, had similarly high standards for their showroom.

“Irvine Company loved the concept we proposed and proved willing to craft a creative lease structure that made it work well for both of us. They are incredibly professional. No one I know maintains their properties like the Irvine Company.”

The McKee & Co showroom offers gifts and accessories for the home, indoor and outdoor furniture, bedding, lighting and rugs along with a full design studio, all under one roof. 

“Our design aesthetic mixes a wide range of styles and influences to create interiors that feel comfortable, authentic, and above all, inspired,” says Brent. “It’s impossible to live here and not be influenced by Newport Beach’s landscape, incredible climate and casual but sophisticated lifestyle. Our designs of course reflect this, but with our own fresh, somewhat classic and more European influences.”

“We not only want to “wow” our customers visually but also provide them with a quality of service and knowledge about our trade that is uncommon in retail.”

Today, McKee & Co has grown to 15 full-time employees serving 3,000 customers and several dozen design clients each year, in addition to their Sparrow & Sage product line.

“We have exceptional clients, and they’re truly the heartbeat of what we do,” says Brent. “We’ve been fortunate to work with some of the top architects and builders in Southern California.”

Recent favorite projects include the Hope Ranch project in Santa Barbara and the Balboa Boathouse project on the Peninsula.

“A dream project would be a really cool, no-budget boutique hotel,” says Brent.
